La Diputación apuesta por hacer compatible la caza con la actividad pública en Ulía
DIARIO VASCO – La Diputación Foral salió ayer al paso de las declaraciones del colectivo naturalista SEO Birdlife que denunció el martes que «se sigue cazando en el monte Ulía», lo que pone en peligro, a su juicio, a los paseantes y las propias aves. El responsable del Departamento de Desarrollo del Medio Rural, Rafael Uribarren, se mostró dispuesto a «revisar continuamente» la actividad cinegética del territorio y, en especial, del monte Ulía de San Sebastián, pero «siempre en base a criterios racionales de gestión», con el objetivo de «reducir los puestos de caza hasta compatibilizar los usos de los cazadores, de los usuarios del parque periurbano y la protección de las aves», pero sin suspender la actividad cinegética.
Uribarren se mostró «sorprendido» por las quejas de los ornitólogos ya que «Diputación, Ayuntamiento y Federación de Caza hemos llegado a un acuerdo sobre cómo hacer frente a esta actividad. La caza en Ulía es nuestra preocupación desde 1989, en que quedó prohibida. La Federación iba a gestionar las líneas de puestos permitidas, así como los de Ametzagaña y Añorga Txiki», subrayó.
El diputado destacó que se han quitado 42 puestos en los dos últimos años, y quedan 22 en la línea Ulía-Mendiola y otros 25 en Mendiola-Faro de la Plata, «siempre hacia el interior, con el fin de proteger con un amplio pasillo a las aves y la fauna que utilizan habitualmente el litoral».
Uribarren insistió en que la Diputación revisará constantemente la existencia de estos puestos «en base a criterios racionales de gestión, no en argumentos viscerales», señaló, añadiendo que «hay que compatibilizar la caza con la seguridad de los usuarios de los parques». Y resumió: «La tendencia es ir reduciendo los puestos de caza en Ulía en favor de las aves y de la fauna silvestre».
Los cazadores se quejan
Por otra parte, la Federación Guipuzcoana de Caza criticó ayer la «obcecación» del colectivo naturalista SEO-Birdlife con la caza en Ulía, rechazó que se estén produciendo incumplimientos de la normativa vigente, y pidió que dejen de «enredar» con el asunto a pocas jornadas de que se levante la veda.
El vicepresidente de la Federación Guipuzcoana de Caza, Ramón García, explicó que, tras la petición del Ayuntamiento a la Diputación para que se prohibiese toda actividad cinegética en Ulía, la institución foral ha revisado los puestos legales del registro y eliminó los que desde hacía tiempo que no se utilizaban.
El dirigente de la Federación cree que existe «una persecución» injustificada de la caza en Ulía cuando «nunca ha habido problemas con los cazadores en esta zona». García afirmó que los puestos de caza «están ubicados lejos de las zonas de uso público, en zonas que no entrañan peligro para nadie, y tienen unos horarios restringidos de uso».
Rechazó «rotundamente» que algunos cazadores hayan incumplido la normativa actual y tampoco admitió prácticas de furtivismo. «Que digan cuántas denuncias se presentaron el año pasado: cero», reclamó.
García interpretó las nuevas acusaciones vertidas por los ecologistas como una manera de «enredar» el ambiente ante el próximo levantamiento de la veda.
